Angus council has announced construction works starting 6 May 2019 and taking about eight weeks. A request has been made by Edzell Woods to MSP Liam Kerr that the bridge be opened at weekends. We’ll update this page with any additional news.

Gannochy Gorge Construction Works – Advance Notice of Works
The above works are due to start in May 2019. The works will include rebuilding a failing retaining wall adjacent to the bridge, protecting the cliff face and bridge foundations from erosion and improving drainage. This is the second phase of works following on from the previous bridge maintenance works at Gannochy Bridge in summer 2017.
The works are scheduled to commence on 6 May 2019 and will take approximately 8 weeks to complete. These dates have been agreed following feedback from the community following the previous works at Gannochy Bridge, expected weather conditions and environmental mitigation.
During this time it will be necessary to implement traffic management arrangements to ensure the safety of the workforce, residents and road users. The traffic management measures will be:
6th May – 28th June Temporary traffic lights, traffic speed control measures and short term road closures (of a few minutes).
The Contractor for the work is: JLC (Scotland) Ltd.
It is appreciated that the works will lead to some local inconvenience and disruption. Regrettably this is necessary to allow these essential works to be undertaken. Every effort will be made to restrict the inconvenience to the absolute minimum.
